About Akil
Make public data
useful to people.
Public records can tell us a great deal about a city. Akil brings supported records together so people can explore them, explain them, and build on them.
One foundation.
Different ways to use it.

How we check the data
Show the source. Explain the limits. Our work distinguishes the records we found from the conclusions they support.
The link opens your email app with this page included. Describe the issue, add a supporting source if you have one, then review and send the draft to [email protected]. Opening a draft does not submit a report or sign you up for emails.
Trace the original records
Published findings identify their sources, reporting periods and coverage. Story methods explain the records used; the school explorer also provides its data snapshot for download.
Keep comparisons consistent
Identifiers, dates, geography and units matter. The school explorer matches school IDs across releases, checks overlapping years, and distinguishes available-school totals from comparisons of the same schools.
Check calculations and interpretation
Repeatable tests check calculations and selected query behavior. The MCP checks cover source attribution, result limits and identity uncertainty. Checks vary by dataset and do not certify every source record or AI-generated answer.
Read about the trust checks →Keep uncertainty visible
Missing records and suppressed values are not zero. A change in the numbers does not establish its cause. AI explanations need supporting evidence, and official records can contain errors or reporting gaps.
