Terms of Service

By accessing or using Ask Akil Intelligence at askakil.ai (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Akil Ventures, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Akil," "we," "us," or "our").

Akil provides New York City public-record explorers, data stories, school-data questions and MCP tools for use through compatible AI assistants. Some tools also include related state and federal records, with coverage described at the source or tool level. Connecting an assistant requires an Akil account; browsing public pages does not. Your chosen assistant operates under its own terms and controls its conversation experience. The Service is for research and information, not official government determinations or professional advice.

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

You may use supported AI clients and authorized API access within the Service's usage limits. You agree not to bypass authentication or limits, conduct unauthorized bulk extraction, disrupt the Service, impersonate others, infringe others' rights, or use records to harass, defame or harm people. Do not submit credentials, private documents, or sensitive personal information in research requests. Do not misrepresent Akil outputs as official government findings, certified reports or verified identities, or use them to fabricate evidence or mislead voters.

Records and generated answers are different. Many Akil tools return public records and calculated summaries directly. Your connected assistant, and some school-chat responses, use AI to interpret information. AI can select the wrong record, omit context or draw unsupported connections. Verify significant claims against the linked original sources before using them in decisions, publications, filings or official work.

Preparation and calculations. Akil may standardize fields, join related records, filter results and calculate totals or other summaries. These are prepared views of source data, not unchanged copies of every source row. Source periods, units, matching methods, exclusions and coverage limits matter. A missing result does not prove that an activity did not occur, and a partial dataset must not be treated as a complete total.

Source and matching limits. Government and other public records may contain errors, omissions or outdated information. Freshness varies by dataset. A name or address match may be a candidate rather than the same person or organization; verify identities and connections independently. Counts, patterns and comparisons do not establish wrongdoing, character, current safety, legal use, eligibility or permission to operate.

Not professional advice. Akil is not a government agency and does not provide legal, financial, tax, audit, medical or compliance advice. Consult appropriately qualified professionals for decisions requiring it.

The current public website does not provide a general file-upload service. Files you submit to ChatGPT, Claude or another independent assistant remain subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices. Akil receives the requests that assistant sends to Akil tools; those requests can include information from your prompt.

You are responsible for having permission to submit questions, topic suggestions and other content. You retain your rights in that content and authorize us to process it to provide, secure and improve the Service as described in our Privacy Policy. School submissions, MCP activity and reader requests have different storage practices; they are not all erased when a browser session ends.

Akil's design, software and branding belong to Akil Ventures, Inc. or their respective licensors. Public-source records, images and third-party materials may have their own licenses, attribution requirements or other restrictions. Public accessibility alone is not a guarantee of unrestricted reuse.

To report a copyright concern, email [email protected] with the work concerned, the specific Akil page or record, your contact details and a description of your rights or authority. We will review the report and take appropriate action.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.

Current public explorers and the Akil MCP connection are free, subject to usage limits. Your independent AI provider may charge for its own plan or usage. Connecting Akil does not purchase an Akil subscription. If we offer paid features, their price and payment terms will be shown before you agree to a charge. Any recurring offer will disclose the amount, billing interval, renewal terms and cancellation method before checkout and require affirmative agreement. Cancellation instructions will accompany that offer; no paid subscription is created by visiting this website or connecting the current free service.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected].

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR SECURE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AKIL VENTURES, INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Akil Ventures, Inc. from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
